Why is it so important to keep your Site up to Date?
One of the primary strengths of the Internet is that you can deliver information that is up to the minute. No more waiting for reprints of brochures or waiting for the next GO Manual instalment. Avid Internet Surfers are used to receiving the very latest information and they can spot old news a mile off. An active and ever changing YWAM base site speaks words like "full of life, cutting edge, the place to be, exciting, interesting, committed …" On the other hand a base web site which still has breaking news 9 months old gets the following reaction " Staid, boring, passive, non-caring, out of touch, old school …."
An interesting side effect of somebody seeing old information on your site is that they will take everything else on your site with a grain of salt. If you have School dates they will question whether they are still valid or even if you are still running those schools. If you have prices they won't know whether they have changed or not. If that becomes the case then they may not bother going further and if they do then you're admin or registrar will be busier than they need to be providing updated information to everyone.
The best way to make it easy for staff and students to contribute to a base Web Site is to provide a solution where they can add or modify information (news, prayer points etc) via a browser and a content management system. See our services and products page for an example of such a solution.
